Sunresin en route to signing a new EPC project in Direct Lithium Extraction from Salt Brine in Qinghai
Sunresin will sign another major Lithium Extraction contract in the Qinghai Province, featuring an EPC project of Direct Lithium Extraction from salt brine to be put in operation by the end of 2022.
On the evening of January 3, 2022, Sunresin New Materials issued an announcement indicating the “Receipt of the Signing Notice” from Jinhai Lithium Industry (Qinghai) , a subsidiary of the Huizhou Yiwei Lithium Energy Co., Ltd, on the 10,000 ton lithium carbonate EPC procurement project. The tentative amount of the project is about 456.11 million RMB (71.8 million USD).
The 10,000-ton project of Yiwei Lithium Energy is characterized by good brine quality and low impurities. Battery-grade lithium carbonate will be produced directly, leading to significantly improved yield, reduced cost and high product quality. Through this project, Sunresin’s products will enter the downstream lithium carbonate applications for main battery manufacturers. The successful implementation of this project may set a new model for the industrialized production of lithium in the Qinghai salt lakes.
The Yiwei Lithium Energy project is another large-scale direct lithium extraction (DLE) industrialization project after Sunresin successfully provided DLE equipment for the Minmetals project in October 2021. This project will also be the first industrialized large-scale DLE project producing more than 10,000 tons of lithium carbonate in China. The project is expected to be put into operation in 2022.
The signing of the Yiwei Lithium Energy project will push Sunresin’s cumulative Lithium-related contract value to a total of over 1.6 billion RMB (252 million USD). So far, completed and ongoing large-scale projects include Yiwei Lithium Energy, Minmetals Salt Lake, Zangge Mining, Jintai Lithium, and pilot-scaled BYD, SQM and other major domestic and overseas lithium suppliers.
Over the past 10 years, thanks to its proprietary adsorbents and Simulated Moving Bed (SMB) system, Sunresin has been working with salt brines in China and around the world in Direct Lithium Extraction under different conditions, demonstrating its strengths its providing green, low-carbon, environmental-friendly, high selectivity and high efficiency solutions in the production process, in a one-stop shop fashion.
