Sunresin’s uniform particle size resin plays a big role in the production of Bisphenol A
Bisphenol A (4,4′-dihydroxydiphenylpropane, BPA, bisphenol A), is a basic chemical compound, mainly used in the manufacturing of polymer plastics and coatings (mainly polycarbonate and epoxy resins).
Polycarbonate and epoxy resins are high performance, sustainable and environment friendly materials. Due to their unique properties, they work well in their respective application areas such as: computers and home appliances, eyeglasses, safety glasses, optical lenses, reusable bottles and food storage containers, medical equipment and construction materials, etc.
Since 2017, Sunresin has carried out research and development on BPA resins. From understanding the production process of bisphenol A to benchmarking against similar competition products, after thousands of experiments and demonstrations, the resins were be tested for the first time in 2022.
The following are the important technical points for the BPA resin:
(1) Chromaticity: resin chromaticity affects the purity and conversion rate of the finished BPA products;
(2) Stabilization of sulfonic acid groups: the stabilization treatment making the desulfurization rate very low;
(3) Particle strength: the particle size ratio of <200g/particle is controlled below 2%;
(4) Uniform particle size: excellent performance and stable product performance.
So far, the high-end bisphenol A resins are all uniform particle size resins, and the production of uniform particle resins requires a jetting technology. Sunresin is currently the only resin manufacturer in China that has mastered the jetting technology and owns its production line for uniform particle size resins.
Sunresin’s BPA resin was first put into trial production on a 200,000-ton bisphenol A plant in 2022, being the first application of this kind in China.
In the mean time, Sunresin’s BPA resin is also the preferred resin of an overseas pilot project. At present, various experimental tests have been completed showing positive results.
Sunresin’s resin adsorption process is applied to the treatment of phenol-containing wastewater (phenol) in the production process of bisphenol A, which can reduce the phenol content to lower than 1 ppm. This process is mature and stable, and have been tested on a number of application cases.
