Sunresin Signs MOU with Anson Resources for Lithium Project in Utah
Sunresin is delighted to announce that a Memorandum of Understanding ("MoU") has been signed with Anson Resources Limited (ASX: ASN), an Australian-based exploration and development company for industrial minerals, on a long-term alliance for the Paradox lithium project in Utah.
According to the MoU, Sunresin will provide equipment, consumables, innovations and technical support services to Anson for the development, design, construction, operation and optimization of Sunresin’s proprietary Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology for the production of battery-grade lithium carbonate at the Paradox project in Utah, USA.
The arrangement followed a culmination of 12 months of collaborative work where Anson has conducted several rounds of test work using Sunresin’s patented DLE process in 2020 in Xi’an, China and in 2021 using a small scale DLE pilot plant at an independent laboratory in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Following the highly successful test work which delivered a lithium recovery rate of 91.5%, a Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) was carried out including the engineering design of stage one of the project.
Upon the signing of the MoU, Sunresin will work closely with Anson toward integrating Sunresin’s DLE process into the construction of a full-scale commercial lithium plant in Utah, USA.
Anson Resources is an Perth-based exploration and development company, focused on the discovery, acquisition, and development of natural resources that will meet the demand from rapidly growing new energy and technology markets.
The Paradox brine project is Anson’s flagship project in Utah, USA, with a mining area of 95 square kilometers to host a JORC-compliant resource of 186,000 T of lithium carbonate equivalent, with a lithium concentration ranging from 74 to 177ppm.
Sunresin's Direct Litium Extraction (DLE) technology has high recoveries with low costs and expedited processing times. It does not use any solvent and is more eco-friendly for sustainable development .
Sunresin has over 10 years of experience in DLE, having executed nine commercial DLE contracts representing a total capacity of 73,000 tonnes per annum of lithium.
The signing of this MoU marks another milestone for Sunresin’s patented DLE technology, working with international partners on lithium extraction across Asia, Europe, South America and North America.
"We are delighted to announce the strategic partnership with Sunresin as our technology partner today. Sunresin’s DLE technology is the most attractive for the Paradox lithium project’s brine and meets our goal of producing the highest quality and cleanest lithium carbonate in the US. We look forward to a long association with Sunresin," said Anson executive chairman Bruce Richardson.
