Sunresin Signs MOU with CleanTech Lithium for Lithium Extraction Project in Chile
Sunresin is pleased to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding ("MoU") with CleanTech Lithium PLC (AIM: CTL), a lithium exploration and development company in Chile, for the development of lithium extraction projects.
According to the MOU, Sunresin will provide pilot scale units to be deployed to site with a view to commencing pilot scale production at Laguna Verde in Chile by early 2023, which aims to demonstrate the potential for a first phase 10,000 MT per annum commercial scale production being planned at CTL’s projects.
Both parties will further look to negotiate commercial terms which would allow the CTL to fast-track development of its projects to deliver battery grade lithium to the international market using Sunresin's modular DLE plants.
CleanTech Lithium: (AIM:CTL) is an exploration and development company, advancing the next generation of sustainable lithium projects in Chile. The company is committed to using renewable power for processing and reducing the environmental impact of lithium production by utilizing Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE). CTL’s Laguna Verde and Francisco Basin projects are in the lithium triangle, the world’s center for battery grade lithium production. Both projects are situated within basins entirely controlled by CTL.
The Laguna Verde project features a deep hypersaline lake covering a surface of 15.2 km2 at the low point of a steep valley shaped basin rimmed by volcanos. According to JORC compliant resource, 1.2 million tonnes of lithium at a grade of 246mg/L lithium are estimated from the surface. Laguna Verde Mining Licences (orange outline on map) are held by CleanTech Lithium via an Option Agreement.
Sunresin's Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technology has high recoveries with low costs and expedited processing times. It does not use any solvent and is more eco-friendly for sustainable development .
Sunresin has over 10 years of experience in DLE, having executed nine commercial DLE contracts representing a total capacity of 73,000 tonnes per annum of lithium.
"We are very pleased and excited to have entered into this MoU with SunResin, the world leader in deploying commercial scale DLE plants. With their hands-on experience in implementing DLE projects, their support for CleanTech Lithium on our pilot scale production will be invaluable. We aim to bring our projects into production at the earliest opportunity and I believe that our new relationship with SunResin will help tremendously in this regard," commented Aldo Boitano, Chief Executive Officer, of CleanTech Lithium.
