What is an Ion Exchange System and the Characteristics?
Ion exchange system is a kind of traditional water treatment technology which displaces all kinds of anion and cation in water by anion and cation exchange resin. The anion and cation exchange resins can be combined in different proportion to form cation exchange bed system, anion exchange bed system and mixed bed ion exchange system. The mixed bed ion exchange system is usually used to produce ultra pure water and high pure water after water treatment processes such as reverse osmosis. It is one of the irreplaceable means to prepare ultra pure water and high pure water.
The conductivity of the effluent can be lower than 1uS/cm, and the resistivity of the effluent can be more than 1 MΩ.cm. According to different water quality and use requirements, the water resistivity can be controlled between 1~18 MΩ.cm. It is widely used in the preparation of industrial ultra pure water and high pure water, such as electronic, electric power ultra pure water, chemical and electroplating ultra pure water, boiler make-up water and medical ultra pure water.
Characteristics:
1. Industrial ultra pure water treatment process is one of the most widely used processes in the preparation of industrial ultra pure water.
2. The ion exchange resin for food industry can be used in the industrial devices of sugar making, monosodium glutamate, wine refining, biological products, etc.
3. Ion exchange resin in pharmaceutical industry plays an important role in the development of new generation antibiotics and the improvement of the quality of the original antibiotics. The successful development of streptomycin is an outstanding example.
4. In the organic synthesis of synthetic chemistry and petrochemical industry, acid and alkali are often used as catalysts for esterification, hydrolysis, transesterification, hydration and other reactions.
5. The metal ions in electroplating waste liquid and the useful substances in the waste liquid of film making are recovered.
6. Hydrometallurgy and other ion exchange resins can separate, concentrate and purify uranium from depleted uranium ores and extract rare earth elements and precious metals.
