The ion exchange process is an effective and mature process technology in the demineralization and decolorization of citric acid, and is widely used in the industrial production of citric acid. However, the high osmotic pressure of citric acid causes repeated expansion and contraction of the resins during the fine purification process, and makes the resins bear a huge osmotic pressure, especially for anion exchange resins. Under this condition, the resins can be easily broken, reducing the service life of the resins and increasing the cost. This has become a common problem that holds back the development of the industry, and there was a strong call for a solution.

Vanadium is a silver-white refractory rare metal. It is ductile, hard, non-magnetic, and resistant to corrosion. Given its stable features in alkali, sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, it is widely used in machinery, automobile, shipbuilding, railway, aviation, bridge, electronic technology, national defense and other industries.

In the purification process, Sunresin’s uniform-particle-size ion exchange resin, specifically developed for lactic acids, removes impurities, ashes and proteins from the lactic acid fermentation broth, in order to provide high-quality raw materials for the synthesis of polylactic acid.

Sunresin developed food grade Seplite® LSF983 series of macroporous weak acid cation resin based on a polyacrylate matrix. The Seplite LSF983® is very suitable for hardness (calcium and magnesium) removal from potable water (household water filters, pitchers etc), beverage and food applications. Besides hardness, it can also help to reduce certain level of heavy metals as Copper, Lead etc.
